Expense Track

Last updated: June 2026

Overview

Expense Track helps you record and understand your personal spending. Your financial data stays on your own device — we do not run a server that stores your transactions. This policy explains what the app uses, how it is handled, and the choices you have.

Information We Use

Account & Sign-In

Signing in is optional — you can use the app as a guest without an account. If you choose to sign in, you do so with your Google account through Google and Firebase Authentication, and we receive your verified email address, name, and profile photo to identify your account. We never see or store your Google password, and we do not collect your phone number.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Your transactions, budgets, categories, and receipt photos are stored only on your device, in the app's private storage. We do not upload them to our own servers — in fact, the app has no backend server that holds your financial data.

Google Drive Backup

If you turn on backup, the app saves a copy of your data to your own Google Drive, in a private app-only folder that other apps cannot read. This backup lives in your Google account, not ours — only you can access it, and you can delete it from Google Drive or turn backup off at any time from Settings.

Receipt Photos

If you choose to attach a receipt, you pick an image using the system photo picker. The app can only access the single photo you select, and saves it in the app's private storage — it never scans or reads the rest of your gallery.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to power the app on your device — showing your dashboard, reports, and budgets. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your transactions with third parties.

Notifications

With your permission, the app shows notifications. Budget alerts and daily reminders are generated on your device and scheduled locally. We may also send occasional announcements — such as new features or important updates — as push notifications through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can turn notifications off any time from Settings or your device settings.

Advertising

The app may display ads provided by Google AdMob. To deliver ads, Google may use your device's advertising identifier in line with Google's own privacy policy. You can reset this identifier or limit ad personalisation from your device settings.

Analytics & Crash Reports

We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand how the app is used — for example, which screens are opened — and to automatically detect crashes, so we can fix problems and improve the app. This collects anonymous usage statistics, an app/advertising identifier, and basic device and diagnostic information. It does not include your individual transaction details, and we do not use it to identify you personally.

Security

Sign-in and backup use encrypted connections to Google. Your financial data remains in your device's private app storage and, if you enable backup, in your own Google Drive. If you enable biometric unlock, it is processed entirely by your device — we never receive your biometric data.

Your Choices

You can export your transactions to a CSV file from Settings, turn Google Drive backup on or off, manage app permissions from your device settings, and remove all your data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app (and deleting the backup from your Google Drive).
